The Red Sea resort city of Sharm El-Sheikh has been honored with the African-Asian Union (AFASU) Golden Award for its status as the safest tourist destination.
Khaled Fouda, the Governor of South Sinai, also received the AFASU Golden Award for his outstanding leadership and development initiatives in the tourism sector.
Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly emphasized that this achievement reflects the collaborative efforts of various government agencies, in partnership with the South Sinai Governorate, to enhance Sharm el-Sheikh’s infrastructure and facilities.
Madbouly highlighted the city’s transformation into a smart, environmentally friendly urban center, achieved through nationwide cooperation and the implementation of sustainable infrastructure and service projects.
Mohamed al-Hommosany, the spokesperson for the Egyptian Cabinet, highlighted that Sharm el-Sheikh upholds key criteria, such as enhancing sustainability, transportation infrastructure, social welfare, and reinforcing the pillars of sustainable development across governmental administration, progress, and tourism security.
